Lord Gerry Grimstone

Lord Gerry Grimstone is Chairman of Gemcorp Capital, bringing decades of leadership experience across global financial services and UK public service.

Lord Grimstone has held a number of senior roles at the highest levels of international banking and asset management. He was Chairman of Standard Life Aberdeen, where he played a central role in guiding the company through its merger and transformation into a global investment business. He also served as Deputy Chairman of Barclays and as Chairman of Barclays Bank plc, in addition to holding the role of Vice Chairman of the investment banking division at Schroders earlier in his career.

Alongside his private sector leadership, Lord Grimstone has held significant roles in the UK government. From 2020 to 2022, he served as the UK’s Minister for Investment, responsible for promoting foreign direct investment into the UK and maintaining strategic relationships with global investors. In this role, he led efforts to develop national investment strategy, strengthen business and investor engagement, and enhance the UK’s global competitiveness as a destination for capital.

Over the course of his career, Lord Grimstone has also held advisory and board positions across a range of international financial institutions and organisations, contributing his expertise in governance, regulation and cross-border investment. His combined experience across public policy and global finance provides a valuable perspective to Gemcorp’s work at the intersection of international capital and emerging markets.
