Atanas Bostandjiev is the Founder and CEO of Gemcorp, where he is responsible for the overall management of the firm and serves as a member of the Investment Committee. Prior to founding Gemcorp in 2014, Atanas was CEO of VTB Capital UK. Before that, he was a Partner at Goldman Sachs in London, where he co-led the Emerging Markets business across Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He began his career at Merrill Lynch in Frankfurt in 1998. Atanas holds a BSc degree from Washington College, Maryland. In addition to his professional work, Atanas is the founder of the Bulgarian charity, Chance for the Children of Bulgaria, which supports talented young individuals across the country in fulfilling their full potential.
Parvoleta Shtereva is one of the co-founders and CIO, responsible for the firm’s investment portfolio, as well as execution and management of investments. She is also a member of the Investment Committee. Parvoleta spent most of her career managing credit portfolios for Black River Asset Management and Goldman Sachs. She has more than two decades of experience working across Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Felipe Berliner is one of the co-founders and is responsible for the firm’s structuring team. He is also a member of the Investment Committee. He has spent most of his career at Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs within the emerging markets structuring team. Prior to Gemcorp, he was at VTB Capital working on financing companies, financial institutions and sovereigns in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe and Asia. Before his banking career, he worked as a capital markets, M&A and project finance lawyer. He holds a Law degree from Universidade Candido Mendes and an MBA from INSEAD.
Selim is one of the co-founders and responsible for the origination and execution of investments. He is also a member of the Investment Committee. He spent 20 years of his career at Deutsche Bank, BofA Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs as Managing Director focusing on Africa, the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Turkey. He holds a BSc in Economics from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Booth School of Business, University of Chicago
